Summary

Transform your home into a permanently clear and clutter-free space with the incredible KonMari Method。 Japan's expert declutterer and professional cleaner Marie Kondo will help you tidy your rooms once and for all with her inspirational step-by-step method。

The key to successful tidying is to tackle your home in the correct order, to keep only the things you really love and to do it all at once – and quickly。 After that for the rest of your life you only need to choose what to keep and what to discard。

The KonMari Method will not just transform your space。 Once you have your house in order you will find that your whole life will change。 You can feel more confident, you can become more successful, and you can have the energy and motivation to create the life you want。 You will also have the courage to move on from the negative aspects of your life: you can recognise and finish a bad relationship; you can stop feeling anxious; you can finally lose weight。

Marie Kondo's method is based on a 'once-cleaned, never-messy-again' approach。 If you think that such a thing is impossible then you should definitely read this compelling book。

She started reading housewife magazines when she was five? Some of Marie Kondō's organisational tips feel quite ableist to me。 When she is discussing different ways, she plainly states that with research in psychology, her way works for everyone, seemly missing that neurodivergent people also fall into this。。。 Um, I find that questionable。 Maybe I'm wrong。A lot of her other tips about tidying up I agree with。 But, she really underestimates how much people read and enjoy reading。 Also, her views She started reading housewife magazines when she was five? “You’ll be surprised at how many of the things you possess have already fulfilled their role。” This was a fun little read as I’m packing up my four-bedroom house to move into a two-bedroom duplex。 I do feel like it helped me look at some things more analytically and decide that they didn’t need to travel with me。 It was a good, short read and I would recommend it to anyone going through a transition in life!

I didn’t finish this before my loan was up。 The book was very interesting listening。 Her principles (that I got to - 49% finished) are solid。 I’m looking forward to seeing how I can incorporate some of her methods into my life。 I can’t do the intensely declutter phase that she starts with, due to time。 I’m trying to figure out how I can make just one area better with the small chunks of free time I have these days。 Very encouraging read for this middle of the road kind of girl (not a bonafide pa I didn’t finish this before my loan was up。 The book was very interesting listening。 Her principles (that I got to - 49% finished) are solid。 I’m looking forward to seeing how I can incorporate some of her methods into my life。 I can’t do the intensely declutter phase that she starts with, due to time。 I’m trying to figure out how I can make just one area better with the small chunks of free time I have these days。 Very encouraging read for this middle of the road kind of girl (not a bonafide pack rat or a cleanie) who likes to live in a clean functional place but would rather keep things clean rather than clean for enjoyment。 This was great listening! 。。。more

2。0。Marie Kondo's book could have been written as a 2-3 page article and even further summarized as "Does it bring you joy?" Tidying will be forever a never-ending process if there is not a move towards minimalist consumption, which I was disappointed to not see addressed。 。。。more

This book has great advice & perspectives on organizing & managing your life。 And is simply a great read & useful for anyone。 The only thing is this book claims that the “life changing” which I would have to argue that while the tips, tricks & perspectives in this book have the possibility to change your life I would not say there is a promise of “life changing”。 Im not a fan of books that come across as claiming “do this one thing & all your problems will be cured”。 Which I felt was slightly th This book has great advice & perspectives on organizing & managing your life。 And is simply a great read & useful for anyone。 The only thing is this book claims that the “life changing” which I would have to argue that while the tips, tricks & perspectives in this book have the possibility to change your life I would not say there is a promise of “life changing”。 Im not a fan of books that come across as claiming “do this one thing & all your problems will be cured”。 Which I felt was slightly the viewpoint in this book。 Despite this, I absolutely do recommend this as a read to anyone。 It not only gives you practical tips on how to organize things in your life but also teaches you to only have things that bring you joy in your life。 It is also a great read for people interested in a more minimalistic lifestyle。 I like that the book however doesnt just go into “own less” but instead “only really own things you need or that bring you joy” which I feel is the real purpose of minimalism。 Minimalism does not necessarily mean owning the bare minimum (though it can) but some people are able to practice a minimalist life by only keeping things they enjoy or need around, even if it may seem like “alot”。 I also read the comic version of this story which was very fun & enjoyable to read。 I recommend reading both because there is something different to gain from both the text version & the comic version。Thank you to the amazing author! 。。。more

This book is an interesting glimpse into another culture's way of viewing possessions and the management of one's wellbeing。 As a kid, I believed that inanimate objects had feelings, so it was easy for me to accept that some people really do believe in what Marie was teaching。 She has some good ideas。 I like the main premise - that we should keep what brings us joy, but her extremism needs to be tempered with reality - especially for those who have large families。 As someone who keeps things for This book is an interesting glimpse into another culture's way of viewing possessions and the management of one's wellbeing。 As a kid, I believed that inanimate objects had feelings, so it was easy for me to accept that some people really do believe in what Marie was teaching。 She has some good ideas。 I like the main premise - that we should keep what brings us joy, but her extremism needs to be tempered with reality - especially for those who have large families。 As someone who keeps things for sentimental reasons or because I might need it later, I appreciated her encouragement that it was OK to let go。 。。。more

I get the point, I do。 However, everything in this book could have been written in a (long) blog post, a magazine article or an essay。 I don't give a crap about this woman's entire life story about being (imo unhealthily obsessed) with tidiness。 Keep the things that bring me joy and get rid of the things that don't。 Oh and fold your underwear all pretty and make sure you hold every single damn item you own to your heart and ask yourself if it brings you joy。 If it does, keep it。 If it doesn't, d I get the point, I do。 However, everything in this book could have been written in a (long) blog post, a magazine article or an essay。 I don't give a crap about this woman's entire life story about being (imo unhealthily obsessed) with tidiness。 Keep the things that bring me joy and get rid of the things that don't。 Oh and fold your underwear all pretty and make sure you hold every single damn item you own to your heart and ask yourself if it brings you joy。 If it does, keep it。 If it doesn't, donate, sell or throw away。I have ADHD and this whole book was so repetitive and ridiculous to me。 I think it's meant for type A personalities which I most definitely am not。 That's why I gave it 2 stars, otherwise I would have given it one。 Sorry but I'm not going to hug an eraser or something to see if it brings me joy (and hello, lots of things we need aren't super joy inducing) and I am a very affectionate person! 。。。more
